...not everywhere of course. But in Athens the air is clean, there are no crowds, and the birds can be heard below the Acropolis. It's overwhelming for so many people to make sense of all that is happening, especially with rapidly increasing numbers of sick and dying...but its almost feels as if the Earth needed a pause. And maybe us with it.

China is beginning to lighten restrictions and Italy have seen a decrease in the number of cases. There are signs of hope.
BBC | march 28, 2020 If boredom gets really desperate you can always watch bird cams for feathered activity on the Cornell Labs site. They have a whole range of different species to follow from around the world.
This is such a fantastic view of wildlife in the wild. An outdoorsman in Pennsylvania set up a camera next to a beaver-felled log that has become the main thoroughfare for all manner of critters. This is a series of clips taken over a year.

Great article about the math behind how 'flattening the curve' works...some promise too. Not for the numbers feint of art but well worth reading.

"Who doesn’t love cowboys? The hats, lasso’s and bucking bronco’s – what’s not to love? Apparently some people love cowboys so much, they even opened a museum dedicated to them in Oklahoma. It’s called the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and one of their employees, Tim Send, recently went viral for reasons you might not expect." From demilked.com | March 24, 2020 Makeshift workspaces, pets, children...its a wonder any work is getting done. Although it is still March and you can be sure there's a LOT more getting done than if the March Madness was in full swing. ;)
demilked.com | march 24, 2020 This was the last paragraph of a pretty sobering message from the President of the Italian Red cross, Francesco Rocca. The article isn't exactly a silver lining but what he had to say at the end is pretty powerful. Be there for one another.

One local yoga studio didn't miss a beat after having to close its doors for the first time in 14 years. They quickly dove into Zoom and classes have resumed again online until the day comes when people are allowed to congregate.
Footballers offering their rooms to NHS workers, perfume companies using their factories to make sanitizers...there is a lot of humanity happening all around us as we hunker down. Be well everyone.

the liningsAmidst all the bad news, cancellations, and fear lately there are more than a few silver linings... although you have to dig a little deeper these days. The human spirit hasn't been crushed...just beaten down a little. In a time when we're not supposed to get too close to one another maybe we'll have to reach each other through our hearts (and humor). Hopefully some of these stories will do that. Please pass along any stories you have (contact form)...I'd love to hear from you and the good you've found during this global crisis. I'll post as many as I can. Take care. ArchivesCategories |
